Great for children.

My grand-daughter is only 4 years old yet from the time she's been 2 she has loved to draw. She has tried to copy just what she sees and gets frustrated when she can't. So thought I should nurish her intrest in it. And I started learning with her for fun. First I brought books for me thinking I could teach her once I learned to better draw. Ha! I can't tell you how much money I wasted and felt like a failure.Trying to learn more realism in what I was drawing. They go from this to a finished product in 10 seconds and your scratching your head going what did I miss? So, I bought several of these books for her thinking at least they had cute critters in them she'd at least have fun with them. She follows with no instruction from me at all, just from looking at the pictures of what he's doing and can't read a word of it. Her pictures don't look exactly like his but she now draws a better circle than I do and she's have a great time with it. Has not once gotten frustrated because she can't draw just what she sees, as far as she's concerned she has, she drew the first circle that's an accomplishment to her. And from his strange creatures, doesn't matter to her if she's drawing a person with 20 arms and 4 legs she's drawn something and it's beautiful to her which is what's important. So weather your 4 or 43 it's well worth every penny. :-)Christopher Hart another great teacher check out his books as well. He'll teach you to draw 20 different sets of eyes, and several poses so you don't have to draw just what he's teaching you, you can mix it all up and still come out with a great drawing. Very easy to understand and follow.

booklet, not book

While this book has much value,fun, and good content, be aware that it is a booklet of 32 pages compared to Draw Squad and Kistlers Imagination Station: Learn How to Draw in 3D. They have about 250 pages. You will get more for your money in terms of more lessons/info with the other 2 books.

fun and easy for grandchildren and grandma

Mark Kistler's books were enjoyed by my daughter and her children. We love to draw. Mark makes it fun and easy. Although I like the work of his mentor, which his first books mirrored with exactness, these later books build on instead of copy Bruce McIntyre's style. Age eight or nine on up will enjoy this book if they like to draw.

Trusting = perfect peace

I enjoy reading this story. I love that it incorporates the bible verse of Isaiah 26:3 which is an eye opener for when we let fear takes control, we need to remember that trusting God will bring perfect peace.

Lovely romance

Melody, a director at Village of Hope is cautious about being attracted to Hudson because of her painful past.
His love for extreme sports and being a millionaire worries her
Hudson is a rich man's son,trying to forget his heritage and find his own way in the world.
Can they get a second chance at love?
Isaiah 26:3 reminds us that trusting in God takes away your worries.
I loved this story about the Village of Hope and how Melody and Hudson learn to trust in the Lord.
I was honored to receive an advance review copy and I am giving an honest opinion.

I enjoyed this story very much

In Falling for the Millionaire, author Merrillee Whren gives the reader a story of finding trust again after losing hope. I enjoyed this story very much, as we all have opportunities in our lives to forgive and forget and trust again. The true way to accomplish those things is by going to God first and asking for His help in making the right decisions. I recommend this story to anyone who enjoys Christian fiction and who enjoys learning life lessons. A great read.

Lots of merits but not 100% satisfied anymore

I'm a faculty member who has used this textbook for several years. It provides a relatively balanced perspective on community and urban sociology issues although it leans slightly more towards ecological explanations for urban change over the role of power/ inequality. I find the content is written in a clear, presentable manner and does a decent job of covering the fundamental issues as a textbook should; I also like the way they structure the review questions at the end. I supplement it with the Annual Editions handbook which provides a look at more real-life, contemporary issues. Although I like the updated material in this edition, I feel as if the content is focusing less and less on the important role of the power elite in shaping urbanization processes. That along with its hefty price may make me consider other options in the far future.

Probably the one section I find the most lacking is the section on Asian Americans, which pretty much homogenizes their experience as the "model minority" with barely any mention of Vietnamese/ Cambodians/ Laotians/ etc. on the lower end of the socioeconomic spectrum. The discussion on their racialization as foreigners (mia tuan, nadia kim), the negative implications of the model minority myth (too many to name), the formation of diverse Asian communities (john logan), inequality within ethnic enclaves (peter kwong), the significance of ethnic networks/ communities on social mobility (min zhou), and the role of entrepreneurs and transnational capital in reviving metropolitan areas (jan lin, ivan light) are significantly underdeveloped. Then he uses the atypical case of Japanese Americans to prove his case. I realize he cannot cover everything mentioned above but this section is outdated, inaccurate, and too general to be considered "textbook-worthy." I beg the author Palen to do a more thorough and updated coverage of Asian Americans, at least somewhat comparable to what he did for the Latino and African American sections.

Where to begin!!! This.....THIS book!!! Oh my gosh!! Just, oh.my.gosh.

"Whiskey and Lola," he said against her skin. "My new favorite flavor."

So, after leaving off Night Fever with a smile.....but a need for more, I ended this book with a shouting match with a friend. All on MY end, of course. This book left me shaking!!! The turmoil, the angst, the heartbreaking ending that left me needing MORE. I need more. I want answers, I need answers....I require answers to function!!!

A night like the one they'd had could never be duplicated. It also couldn't be forgotten.

I love angst.
I love alphas.
I love forbidden love.

This book had all of this. It had what I needed and wanted and I want MORE of it. Jessica really did a good job in drawing me into the passion that was raging between Beau and Lola....such a gooood job. I shake my head because, while reading a scene between Lola and Beau that was so volatile and so anger-soaked and so heartbreaking, I was left with stuttered breath. My jaw slack, my pulse racing and my heart breaking....this one left me aching for more.

"Which one of us are you fighting, Lola?" he asked against her mouth.
"Me or you?"

Jessica, bravo. What can I say....how do you love someone, then hate them....then fall deeper in love and then get so angry??? All at something (or a situation) that ultimately was out of their control....? Waiting for Book #3, Night Moves, is thankfully only a week away. This was so good. So. Good.

If you haven’t read Night Fever by Jessica Hawkins, DO NOT READ AHEAD.

Now, I hope that all you that are reading this have read Night Fever and won’t get mad, because this review will contain spoilers from the first book.
As you know, Lola accepted Beau’s offer of money in exchange for one night with her. And as you know, the line between doing this because she has to and doing it because she liked Beau was blurring.
So, when Beau offers money for a second night with her, Lola is confused. She loves Johnny, or so she believes, and she’s doing this for him. When they bought Hey Joe, it cost them more than they thought it would, and add up all the expenses for remodels and marketing, they won’t have a lot left. The two have to make a decision. Is it worth her going through that again for their future?
Okay. So. I’m sitting here, trying to think of the calmest way to explain my feelings about this book. If you want to really know how I feel, watch the video review below.
BUT OMG THE ENDING IS A TOTAL MIND F*** AND OMG YOU WILL NOT SEE IT COMING!!!!

Jessica Hawkins has me in knots over this book. I am literally dying for book three and will go as far as pleasing her to get it now.
Okay, maybe not that far.
But I will make a video of me on my knees begging. I’ll name my first born after her. I’ll even fly out to see her and give her cake and cookies.
Wondering why I’ve lost my mind here? Well, you have to read. The good thing about this is that there are three books, and they all release one week to the day after each other. Book one released on the fourth. Book two has released today, the eleventh, and then book three will be released on the eighteenth. So, if you’re one of those people, you don’t have to wait too terribly long.
I IMPLORE you to read this book. That’s a fancy way of saying I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this series. You will be hooked from the start! You will have mixed feelings about Beau, I promise you. One minute you think he’s a total douche, then the next you’re like “I really like him.” Turn the page and you’re right back to where you started. You will fall in love with these characters. You will want to know what happens. You only want the best for them and you will keep changing in your mind what that is.
This book is a definite roller coaster ride. The whole series is. Again, I really recommend this series! Jessica Hawkins will have you hooked! Five stars!

Thoughts: I could not wait to read Night Call, knowing that it pick up right where the previous book Night Fever left off. From the beginning of this series, you easily became caught up in this outside-the-box, illicit, taboo style romance - a style that Jessica weaves oh-so-easily, but oh-so-well! Once you get a taste of her writing, you simply can't get enough!
The talent of Jessica Hawkin's once again astounds me - I thought I was prepared for the ending, that I knew where this book was going. I have read her books, I have a sense of her style of writing, and (with the exception of Jessica) I generally am not usually surprised too much by storylines. With this series, I knew there was more going on with Lola's past, particularly with that gap in her history and that stint she did at the strip club, and I even had a clue that Beau probably had a link in there somehow, someway....but well....wow!.....I sure didn't see that coming! What an ending and a wrench thrown into things! Jessica is just a damn brilliant author is all I can say, and I can't wait to read the third installment....cause I haven't a clue as to where things will go from here! LOL And I have never enjoyed being lost so much in a series before - except with her Cityscape series, too, of course...;)

' Katharine Goodland, CUNY College of Staten Island, author Female Mourning and Tragedy in Medieval and Renaissance English Drama 'Persuasively argued, this study confirms what scholars have been slow to recognize - that the Virgin Mary was a powerful presence on the English stage. Although the Virgin May may have been marginalized by Protestant theology and polemic, her potency, comfort, and efficacy could not be erased from the English psyche and was available for reimaging on the early modern English stage.' Renaissance Quarterly '[Espinosa] is careful not to be too reductive; his argument is not one-to-one mapping of Marian symbology, but a careful, nuanced hunt for motifs that both sustain and potentially disrupt conceptions of Protestant, English masculinity.' Life at battle school

Ender Wiggin is a very unusual boy -- he's a brilliant tactician, a genius, and a despised "third" in a future that only allows two children. He's also six years old.

And despite the fact that Orson Scott Card's sci-fi classic is about a little boy learning how to be a warrior, the first part of the comic book adaptation is a pretty solid graphic novel. "Ender's Game: Battle School" has plenty of zero-G action, tense confrontations between little boys and girls who act like hardened adults, and some weirdly shiny faces and hair.

After a fight with a gang of bullies, Ender Wiggin is approached by an army officer who wants him to join the elite Battleschool, where kid geniuses become soldiers -- basically because aliens are about to attack Earth AGAIN and may end up wiping out the human race. His brother Peter is too wild and cruel, and his beloved sister Valentine is too mild-mannered. Ender accepts, and quickly finds himself in a dog-eat-dog space school where he soon becomes loathed for the special treatment the teachers occasionally give him -- when they aren't observing his every move.

And it soon becomes obvious that Ender has a natural ability that exceeds that of most of the Battleschool recruits: he instinctively knows how to outmaneuver his opponents and protect himself in a fight, even if he annoys some of the "army" commanders who don't like being outshone. But an elaborate fantasy VR game has also revealed some unpleasant doubts in Ender's mind, as he tries to move through a fairy tale world filled with dangers....

"Ender's Game: Battle School" has a pretty daunting task in front of it -- it has to take a story filled with psychological games and children acting like adults, and somehow turn it into a good graphic novel. Sure, aliens are about to invade the Earth, but the focus here is on the slow transformation of Ender from a very self-contained young boy into a tiny prepubescent adult.

But it actually does work rather well -- lots of punching (with accompanying blood splatters), zero-G acrobatics, and tense confrontations between assorted children, divided by "toons" and competition. It gets too slow in patches, but once Ender starts really showing his skills the story becomes more intense and focused. And it adds a chilling overtone that the adults are watching the whole thing and clinically observing what is going on.

Perhaps the biggest problem with the story is that we don't get much of a look inside Ender's thoughts, and mainly see how he feels through his fantasy-world explorations and the psychological evaluations. He does seem to come alive more at the end, when he struggles with his fears of becoming like his brother Peter, and realizes the true purpose of Battle School. And Valentine serves as a good supporting character, a girl who adores her brother and serves as his rock.

As for the art, it's a mixed bag. It's rather awkward at first, with giant heads and scrawny legs for everyone, and a stylized video-game sheen that makes everyone look like video game characters. However, the art becomes smoother as the series goes on, and the glimpses of talking snakes, green-skinned giants and magical mirrors in the imaginary realm are lovely.

"Ender's Game: Battle School" has some minor flaws, but is a surprisingly solid comic adaptation of the first part of Orson Scott Card's sci-fi classic. And Command School is yet to come.
