Oil lamp education for the novice

I grew up in a house with oil lamps but didn't know there really was a proper way to not only use them but to care for them. Once married with my own house, we bought some lamps to use during power outages. I now know the cause of some of the problems we have encountered while using oil lamps. I also learned more about types of lamps and now would like to buy more lamps. This book is great for those who use oil lamps and/or have some old lamps to clean and restore.

I am always enchanted when a person who is passionate about a topic writes about it. The author's heart and soul is in his love for oil lamps, He guarantees that we, too, will become addicted, once we've cleaned up our first lamp.

have just gotten into oil lamps. my first purchases were made as a thought to emergency lighting. Then, as I perused the various sites looking for info on parts, care, and use, became aware. This book is very simplistic, but gives you the info you need to understand how they work, why they work, and how you can use and enjoy them. To be honest, one of the ones I purchased at the thrift was the base of an Aladdin and when I found out all that would need to bring it back had said no way. After reading this and understanding the differences between an Aladdin mantle lamp and the others, it is now a project to be tackled. So if you are finding yourself attracted to them and want to use them rather than just gather dust; if you are looking for alternative lighting in the case of emergency - long or short term - this is a book for you
